cbs 5 reporter elissa harrington is in downtown oakland where the damage is still being assessed. >> reporter: good morning, we're here on 20th and franklin where it happened. on the ground you can see a broken beer bottle, paint splashed across the california bank and trust branch, windows broken a lot of them now boarded up. i counted 12 of these large glass windows with some damage. the same thing with businesses across the street. this all happened yesterday. these protestors trashed several blocks in downtown oakland but it all started as an antiwar rally. protestors marking the 11th anniversary of the start of the war in afghanistan. a group of about 200 left from frank ogawa plaza for a march around 7:00 but by 8:15 they had dispersed and went on a vandalism spree. city hall was damaged, protestors smashing the windows. they damaged a half dozen other businesses including the "oakland tribune" offices, three banks, a kaiser permanente and a.c. transit office and the oakland scientific facility. you're seeing damage on the corner and they covered about three blocks in the downt
